GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARDS
REALTOR® Magazine’s Good Neighbor Awards program is celebrating its 17th year of recognizing REALTORS® who make an extraordinary impact through volunteer work. Since it began in 2000, the Good Neighbor Awards program has donated more than
$1 million to REALTOR®-led charities. ● The 2016 Good Neighbor Award winners will be honored on Nov. 5 during the
REALTORS® Conference & Expo in Orlando. The winners’ charities will each receive a $10,000 grant. In addition to the winners,
five Honorable Mentions (page 34) will each receive $2,500 for their community cause. ● Nominations are being accepted for
the 2017 Good Neighbor Awards. The deadline is May 12. Find out more at realtor.org/gna.
It’s easy to feel powerless over seemingly intractable societal
and economic ills, yet these REALTORS® find solutions
to some of the most daunting problems in our world.
Reading the news these days can easily trigger feelings of anxiety and anger. Let these REALTORS®
restore your hope. It is rare to find individuals like these Good Neighbors who steadily use their time,
talent, and positive energy as forces for good. REALTOR® Magazine’s 2016 Good Neighbor Award recipients channel their passion to help in a variety of ways: ensuring people have safe housing, ample food, and
clean drinking water; preventing domestic violence and sudden death in children; giving hope to kids who
are seriously ill or disabled; funding medical research and patient care; giving schoolkids essential tools for
learning; and fighting for LGBT equality. Their work spans the globe, quite literally. From New York to Maui.
From Wyoming to a remote village in Ethiopia. And for the first time, we have a Good Neighbor who lives
outside the U. S.—he’s an International REALTOR®, hailing from Canada. Learn about the incredible ways
the Good Neighbors improve the quality of life for others. It’s time to be inspired. By Sara Geimer
