New Certification for
Relocating Military Families
There are more than 22 million military veterans and another 1. 1 million
active-duty personnel in the United States, representing a significant potential
client base for NAR members.
For real estate professionals who are interested in helping veterans and service members find housing solutions that best meet their needs, the Center for
Specialized R;;;;;;® Education recently launched the Military Relocation
Professional certification. This one-day certification program o;ers NAR
members knowledge and skills for working in this niche, including how to help
clients take full advantage of military benefits and support, how to work within
the tight time frame for relocation, and working with deployed military and

the final exam, and view two one-hour webinars. The application fee is $195,
which is discounted to $149 through Dec. 31, 2013. A portion of the application
fee will be donated to a homeless veteran’s service organization that serves military veterans and assists with their housing needs.

New .REALTOR Domain
You’ve seen .com, .org, .edu, and .gov, but did
you know there are hundreds more top-level
domains coming? Soon, new domains like .car,
.music, .lawyer, and .doctor will be appearing
online. To stay ahead of the rapidly changing Internet and di;erentiate R;;;;;;;®
from nonmembers, NAR is securing the
.REALTOR domain for members—to create a
clear, trusted source for real estate online.
In early 2011, the Internet Corporation for
Assigned Names and Numbers, which over-
sees policies dedicated to keeping the Internet
secure, stable, and interoperable, approved an
expansion of the number of top-level domains.
This approval also allows companies and orga-
nizations, such as NAR, to create domains for
In 2014, NAR members will be able to
apply for a new .REALTOR top-level domain.
This domain will not only help brand mem-
bers’ Web sites but also make it easier to show
that you adhere to a code of ethics and pro-
fessionalism and are a trusted source of real
estate information, giving R;;;;;;;® a com-
